It was built by Shah Jahan in 1646 – 1653 at a cost of rupees three lakhs white and black marble has been used in its construction. This colonnaded hall, 192 feet by 64 feet, is of red sandstone, with a throne alcove of inlaid marble at the back which is connected with the royal palaces to get Trains From Allahabad. Here the emperors sat and listened to public petitions and met the officials. At the foot of the alcove is a square marble slab on which stood the ministers to receive orders. Just in front is Jahangir’s. Hauz or cistern built in 1611.
