Becoming Disabled Doesn’t Mean the End of Everything

Here’s the deal: becoming disabled just means you have to find new ways to do your usual things. You don’t even have to invent them, they’re all out there. You just have to learn a little about your new way of life, just enough to go back to living the way you usually do. Take getting around your own house. You never used to think about it. I didn’t, anyway. And now that I have an incline platform wheelchair lift I don’t think about it much again. You know what the funniest thing is? Now that I have to use equipment to get around, i actually go out and do more things than I used to.
