Type of Debris Determines Which Size of Gutter Screen to Use

When choosing gutter screens the most important factor to consider is the size of the mesh.  Mesh with large openings will let in larger pieces of debris, so the homeowner may still have to clean the gutters occasionally or wait and let nature take its course and hope the rain washes it away.  Medium sized mesh will keep out more debris, but be aware this means larger leaves or pieces of foreign material will lay on top of the mesh and possibly keep some of the rain from entering the gutters.  If you live in an area that is dry and dusty, small mesh is great for preventing almost anything from getting into the gutters, but it can allow dust and dirt to settle on the mesh.  This can also prevent rain from draining properly.  So you see you need to take into consideration where you live and what type of debris is most common in your area when choosing gutter screens.
