BASE Jumpers Set World Records in Dubai

BASE jumpers are breaking world records at the world’s tallest building in Dubai. The Burj Khalifa building stands at 2,716 feet tall and is currently the world’s tallest man made structure. BASE or B.A.S.E.  is an acronym for four fixed structures that BASE jumpers can free fall from. BASE stands for Buildings, Antennas, Span (bridge) and Earth (cliff).

Some people regard it as an alternative extreme sport while others think it is just a stunt, not a sport.  Skydiving experts consider BASE jumping more dangerous than traditional parachuting from a plane. In its initial stages, BASE jumpers would use traditional parachute equipment. That has now changed, as the sport has evolved so have the equipment. New technology has been injected into the creation of BASE jumping equipment that makes it safer for the jumpers.
